Alice Bulmer

Alice is an artist based in North Devon. She studied History of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University, before training to be a teacher at the Institute of Education, University of Central London, then going on to work as an Art Teacher and Artist in the UK and abroad.

Since moving to Devon, she has run her own studio and gallery space and organised and held exhibitions for other Artists. She has also provided artwork for commercial projects such as label design for the spirits industry. She is currently working part time for Science (UK) as an Artist Assistant.

Alice has always had an affinity for portraits and figures and has continued to develop her oil painting skills within her professional artwork. Her own work demonstrates an intense realism, emphasising form, movement, strength and beauty.

Inspired by living near the coast, Alice has most recently been working on a series of underwater figures, exploring ideas of feminism, the female experience and emotional labour, through otherworldly, ethereal, and floating, dreamlike forms.
